Driver In Weekend Crash Still In Hospital

The driver of a car that hit a tree along East Hauser Lake Road last weekend was in serious condition at Kootenai Medical Center on Tuesday. His three passengers had been treated and released for injuries sustained in the Sunday accident.

The driver, 26-year-old Dustin E. Gray of Rathdrum, was taken by helicopter to KMC in critical condition.

The passengers were 17-year-old Samuel L. Card of Kellogg, 15-year-old Kerry J. Barnia, whose hometown was unknown, and 15-year-old Allison S. Deegan of Post Falls.

Two of the occupants were thrown from the car when it hit the tree. The other two required extrication, according to the Post Falls Police Department.

The accident happened just before 5 p.m. and rescue personnel remained on the scene for two hours.
