First Dog Gets A Name

President Clinton, making full disclosure after sitting on the news for a day, Tuesday said he will call his Labrador pup Buddy in memory of a late uncle. The first family received “voluminous” puppy names generated by a self-appointed national search committee. Some related to the dog’s chocolate color, some to Clinton’s roots: Barkansas and Arkanpaws were among the suggestions. But in the end, it came down to a family discussion, and the president settled on Buddy after the nickname of beloved uncle Henry Oren Grisham. Grisham, who died in June, trained dogs for more than 50 years.
