Olympic Body Tabs Skater
Tara Lipinski, who became the youngest world and U.S. figure skating champion earlier this year, was chosen as the U.S. Olympic Committee’s SportsWoman of the Year. At 15-1/2, she’s the youngest woman to receive the award.
Lipinski received 503 points in voting by USOC officials, athletes and reporters. Mia Hamm, a star on the gold-medal soccer team, was second with 462 points. Track star Marion Jones was third with 448.
