Hockey Team Picked
Six-time national team members Cammi Granato and Lisa Brown-Miller headline the 20-member U.S. Olympic women’s hockey team that will compete in Nagano, Japan, in February.
The final cuts for the squad were made just a few hours after the Americans captured the gold medal in the Three Nations Cup with a 3-0 victory over Canada.
Among the veterans cut were Kelly O’Leary, Erin Whitten and Stephanie O’Sullivan.
The team features three players under the age of 20, including 17-year-old Angela Ruggiero.
Others who made the team include Katie King, who has compiled a team-high 35 points during Team USA’s pre-Olympic tour, and Karyn Bye, who is tops with 20 goals.
Sara DeCosta, who has overcome a serious hamstring injury suffered in August, and Sarah Tueting were the goalies selected.
