Freshman Rescues Inaccurate Falcons

Girls basketball

What do you call a team that misses 17 of 18 free throws in one half and dips into the freshman class to find a leading scorer?

In Sprague-Harrington’s case, you call that team a winner.

Freshman Noel Hatten scored 11 points in the final four minutes Saturday to lift the visiting Falcons (4-4, 1-0) to a 50-37 Bi-County League win at Liberty.

Hatten made two 3-pointers and hit 5 of 6 free-throw attempts as S-H erased the Lancers’ 33-32 lead. Her shooting from the line erased the memory of S-H’s first half, a 1-for-18 effort.

Jo Cory of Liberty (4-3, 0-1) had 18 rebounds.
