Burn Victim Well Enough To Begin Rehabilitation

Burn victim Irma Wilson of Spokane is well enough to begin rehabilitation, her family said Monday.

Wilson and her husband, Don, were vacationing in Nashville, Tenn., in October when a transformer exploded beneath them on a downtown street.

Wilson, 64, was moved to Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital in Nashville on Thursday. She has been taken off of a ventilator and has begun her long recovery, said her son, Carl Wilson.

She was burned over 60 percent of her body. Don Wilson was burned over 30 percent of his body. He was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Nov. 21, but remains in Nashville.

Anyone wanting to track the couple’s recovery can look for updates on the Internet at http://www.seanet.com/exsoma.

The Don and Irma Wilson Burn Victim Fund also has been established at the Five Mile branch of Washington Trust Bank.
