Lengthy Record For Gang Member Cda Man Sought In Tuesday’s Valley Shooting To Be Sentenced Next Week For Another Crime

A Post Falls teenager being sought in the shooting death of a Spokane Valley man is scheduled to be sentenced next week for his part in a drive-by shooting.

Christopher C. Gober, 19, faces up to five years in prison on one count of aggravated assault for firing a handgun at two people standing on a porch in Coeur d’Alene last April.

The professed gang member’s sentencing hearing is currently set for Tuesday in Idaho’s 1st District Court.

Spokane County sheriff’s detectives want to question Gober in connection with the shotgun slaying of a 20-year-old man at a Valley apartment complex two days ago.

Jeremy F. Moore died after being shot in the head with a shotgun at “extremely close range,” Sheriff’s Lt. John Simmons said.

A 12-year-old boy who witnessed the afternoon shooting told detectives three men walked up to the victim’s apartment near Main and Herald and knocked on the door. When Moore answered, someone pointed a shotgun at his head and pulled the trigger, the boy said.

Authorities in Washington and Idaho have been searching for Gober. They think he knew the victim and was one of the men who confronted him. They do not believe he was the gunman.

“We do consider him armed and dangerous, though,” Simmons said Wednesday.

Detectives also are seeking the two other men, Simmons said. Authorities have refused to give their names for fear they will flee the area.

Moore, an unemployed drywaller and Spokane native, has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1991, according to court records. He was arrested in July for being a minor in possession of alcohol and possessing marijuana.

Last year, he was arrested for carrying a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest, court records show.

Coeur d’Alene Police Lt. Walt Roeske said Wednesday his detectives have followed up on several tips from callers, but do not have any solid leads on Gober’s whereabouts.

Detectives in Coeur d’Alene briefly questioned a man who turned himself in to police Tuesday night, but he was released.

Gober was born in Spokane and lists a Post Falls address on court papers.

He is well known to Kootenai County officers. Gober, who also uses the name Christopher Harriman, has been charged with 14 crimes this year alone, including assault, theft, drug possession and weapons violations.

Aggravated assault and possessing a stolen firearm are among the most serious charges that have been filed against him, records indicate.

He was jailed in April after admitting to police he fired at two men after an argument. Police said he was carrying a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and 93 rounds of ammunition when they arrested him.

Gober’s most recent arrest came Nov. 1 after he was stopped for speeding on Highway 41 while driving a black 1991 Ford Tempo. He was booked for reckless driving, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a stolen firearm - a .32-caliber handgun.

A judge dismissed the stolen firearm charge earlier this month. Gober posted bail on the other two charges and was released Nov. 11 from the Kootenai County Jail.

Witnesses to the Spokane Valley shooting said the gunman ran from the apartment complex and got into a dark-colored Ford Taurus or Tempo with Idaho plates.
