Brand, Duke’s Super Frosh, Breaks Foot; Out For Season
Duke freshman Elton Brand, leading the Blue Devils in scoring and rebounding, will miss the rest of the season after breaking his foot during practice.
The 6-foot-8 forward broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot Saturday. He will have surgery this week but will not be able to apply for a medical hardship to retain his freshman year of eligibility.
Brand was averaging 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds for No. 3 Duke. He ranks in the top 10 in five statistical categories among Atlantic Coast Conference players.
