Class Focuses On Christian Caregiving

Registration for a class called “Christian Caregiving A Way of Life” has begun at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines.

The class will meet each Sunday at 10 a.m., starting Feb. 16 and continuing through April.

The class is based on the book of the same title by Kenneth Haugk, a pastor and clinical psychologist. The book looks at the theology, psychology and the practice of Christian caring. The class will address how to apply caring skills to everyday life.

Those interested in attending the class are asked to register by calling the church office at 924-9750 before Thursday. Participants will be required to purchase the book, which is $11. For more information, call the church office.

Free breakfast open to all

All are invited to enjoy a meal of pancakes and ham from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at Opportunity Presbyterian. The free breakfast is sponsored by the church outreach committee.

Spaghetti dinner benefits school

St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 503 N. Walnut, is hosting its annual spaghetti dinner Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The cost of the dinner is $5 for adults, $17 for families, and $4 for seniors over the age of 60 and youth ages 6 to 12. Tickets will be available at the door. Money raised will benefit St. John Vianney School.

Mardi Gras dinner and auction

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 10422 E. Main, will host its sixth annual auction and Mardi Gras dinner on Feb. 8.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the auction will follow at 7 p.m.

Among the hundreds of items to be auctioned are a rafting trip, a handmade Redwood table, crafts, and baked goods.

Tickets for the dinner are $4 for adults and $3 for children aged 12 and under and seniors. Children under the age of 5 are free. Tickets will be available at the door. Those interested in only attending the auction can do so at no cost.

All proceeds raised during the evening will be used to fund various youth activities throughout the year.
