License Plate Sticker Making Heads Spin

Compiled From Wire Services

Call it Sticker Application 101.

State revenue agents are not only helping people with driver licenses and vehicle tags, but these days they also have to instruct people on how to properly stick a sticker on a license plate.

If applied correctly, this year’s tiny red decals indicate that tags will expire in “98.” If applied upside down - as some Arkansans are finding out - the plate reads as if it expired in “86.”

“We have had that problem here,” said Dianna Cranor, a revenue agent in the agency’s Mountain Home office.

Agents say some people, after applying the sticker wrong, have called asking if they got the right decal. Others have called pleading for special instructions on how to get the glutinous decal off.
