University of Nebraska bowler Jeremy Sonnenfeld was merely hoping to make a good impression when he was paired with high school students in a tournament Sunday.

He did that - and a lot more.

Sonnenfeld bowled three straight 300 games, each on a different pair of alleys at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb. Sonnenfeld, an All-American bowler last year as a freshman, said he had bowled seven perfect games in his lifetime, but none of them consecutively.

“Each one is just as precious as the one before that,” he said. “But to have three in a row and to set a world record, well, I just don’t even know what to do.”

Sonnenfeld said that when he rolled his first 300, his goal had been to just make a nice showing for the younger bowlers. When the strikes continued in the second game, he couldn’t believe his good luck.

“I’m thinking, ‘Cool, I’ve never had back-to-backs before,”’ he said. “So now I have this crowd of people behind me. And I was just taking it frame by frame.”
