Curvy Coke Can To Make Its Debut Soon

Associated Press

The Coca-Cola Co. said Thursday it plans to begin U.S. market tests of its new curvy aluminum can before the end of March.

The nation’s biggest soft drink company had said last March that it was working on the can, whose sides curve slightly inward near the top and bottom, subtly resembling the more sharply defined features of the Coke bottle.

“We definitely will be introducing into a test in the first quarter an aluminum contour can,” Coke spokesman Randy Donaldson said.

He declined to confirm a Wall Street Journal report that the new packaging would be unveiled within days in a handful of cities in the South and Midwest.

“That package is not going to be introduced in the next 10 days or so,” Donaldson said. “We’ve got some markets in mind but none of those have been finalized.”
