Indie Rock Trio Sebadoh At WSU

Indie rock favorite Sebadoh has omitted the Inland Northwest from its tours over the years, staying west of the Cascades.

Thursday, the trio will finally make it to the Inland Northwest, specifically Pullman, where it plays at Washington State University’s CUB Ballroom.

Sebadoh has been a major presence in independent rock since 1989. The band signed to Seattle’s Sub Pop in ‘91 and has produced four albums for the label.

1994’s “Bake Sale” is largely considered to be the band’s biggest creative feat, fusing lush melodies and lo-fi accents into one cohesive package. Last year’s “Harmacy,” a more pop-soaked effort, has done well commercially, thanks to some MTV airplay.

At the core of Sebadoh is guitarist-vocalist Lou Barlow. Barlow doesn’t limit his talents to just one band. The former Dinosaur Jr. bassist moonlights in Folk Implosion, Deluxx Folk Implosion, Sentridoh and a few others. Plus, he also releases his own home recordings.

Sebadoh is presently touring the country with Those Bastard Souls.

Sebadoh and Those Bastard Souls will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday; tickets are $8, available at Beasley Coliseum and the Cougar Depot in Pullman and G&B outlets, 325-SEAT.
