Man Mistakes Wife For Burglar, Kills Her

Compiled From Wire Services

A man mistook his pregnant wife for a burglar and fatally shot her early Saturday.

Miguel Faraldo, 32, told police he was awakened by noises in his suburban Miami home, grabbed his semiautomatic handgun and went to investigate.

Thinking his wife was still in bed, Faraldo shot at what he thought was an intruder. He fired one shot, hitting his 24-year-old wife, Mabel, in the head. They had been married two years, and she was six months pregnant.

“He saw a shadowy figure coming towards him,” said Detective Mike McDonald.

Neighbors said the Faraldos’ house had been burglarized in the past.

The State Attorney’s Office will decide if charges will be filed.
