Dollar Bounces, But Little Changed

Associated Press

The dollar tumbled then rebounded to end little changed Monday in the aftermath of a weekend Group of Seven financial summit that suggested the U.S. currency’s prolonged rally is over.

Its showing as trading wound down masked one of the widest one-day swings in the dollar since the currency began its ascent from postwar lows against the Japanese yen and German mark nearly two years ago.

“There was a lot of scrambling on the downside, and a lot of scrambling back up,” said Gary Sakamoto, vice president of foreign exchange at the National Australia Bank’s New York branch.
