Bursch’s Baskets Lift Ferris

GSL boys

Justin Bursch scored five of his 18 points in overtime to spark fifth-ranked Ferris past Mead in a Greater Spokane League boys basketball game at the Arena Tuesday night.

Bursch opened the overtime with a 3-pointer from the right corner and after the teams traded possessions, he got an easy basket on a nice feed underneath by Brad Hodl. The Panthers (9-9, 7-7) cut the deficit to one point, but Jeremy Lucke of Ferris answered with two foul shots with 15 seconds left and Tom Servine added another with 2.8 seconds remaining.

Ferris (16-1, 13-1), which has clinched a berth in the regional tournament, fell behind early. Joel Soter scored eight of his nine points late in the first half to bring the Saxons back.
