Dollar Hits 33-Month High Vs. Mark
The dollar hit a 33-month high against the mark Tuesday, resuming its climb despite a consensus among global financial leaders that the U.S. currency has reached an appropriate level.
Widespread mark weakness and an underlying demand for dollars fed the U.S. currency’s advance, just 72 hours after the seven richest industrialized nations said that the dollar’s reversal from its historic lows two years ago was complete.
Even Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin’s warning last Friday of an overpriced dollar couldn’t halt its climb.
