Nine West Cuts Jobs, Plans To Close Plants
Nine West Group Inc. will close three plants and eliminate about half of its manufacturing staff to cut costs and remain competitive.
The women’s footwear company said Wednesday that it would shut down two Indiana plants - in Madison and Crothersville - and a plant in Flemingsburg, Ky., eliminating about 1,000 jobs.
A restructuring will also take place at a Cincinnati warehouse and a product development center in Harrison, Ohio, which will be relocated to a new facility in Hebron, Ky., the company said.
The job cuts represent about 7 percent of the company’s total worldwide work force.
