U.S. Increases Support For Serbian Democracy
The United States is significantly expanding its support of newspapers, radio stations and trade unions opposed to President Slobodan Milosevic of Serbia, senior U.S. officials said Wednesday.
While the money to be distributed in 1997 is small - about $2 million - it is five times the $400,000 provided last year. The officials said the increase was a direct result of the daily pro-democracy demonstrations against Milosevic.
