More Men Consider Quadruple Jumps

Associated Press

The quadruple jump, rarely completed in major competitions, is becoming something of an obsession for male skaters.

With two-time world champion Elvis Stojko of Canada hitting one in combination at the Canadian championships, top skaters are considering incorporating the four-rotation jump in their programs.

While current world champion Todd Eldredge isn’t planning to do one at this week’s nationals, he does practice the quad. A half-dozen other Americans also have been working on quads in training, including Shepherd Clark, Michael Chack and Michael Weiss, who plan to do it in their long programs on Saturday.
