Bingo Panel Name Change Moves Ahead

In the first close vote of the session, the House on Friday approved by just two votes legislation changing the Bingo Advisory Board to the Charitable Gaming Commission.

Sponsor Rep. Bill Deal, R-Nampa, said the function of the board, which reports to the Lottery Commission, has been expanded to cover raffles, so its name is being changed.

But opponents argued it could lead the way to a broader definition of what types of gambling are allowed in Idaho.
