Grade School Boundary Changes Proposed

Central Valley School District will hold a series of hearings to gather public comment on proposed changes in the elementary school boundaries.

The new boundaries have been designed by a committee of parents from across the district to allow for the new Liberty Lake Elementary School. The boundaries will go into effect at the start of the 1998 school year, when the new school opens.

A detailed map will be available at the upcoming meetings so that residents will be able to learn precisely where the proposed boundaries fall.

All meetings are scheduled to run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.:

Tuesday at Evergreen Junior High, in the cafeteria.

Wednesday at North Pines Junior High, in the media center.

Thursday at Greenacres Junior High, in the cafeteria.

Feb. 26 at Horizon Junior High, in the cafeteria.

The committee, which started its work in October, worked to keep each elementary school under 500 students, and to ensure that as few students as possible have to cross major arterials on their way to school.

The school board is expected to take action on the final plan next month.
