Blast Injures Two At Lesbian Nightclub

An explosion sent shrapnel flying into a lesbian nightclub Friday night, injuring two people. Police also found a suspicious, unexploded package in the parking lot.

The explosion occurred about 10 p.m. in the parking lot at the Otherside Lounge of Atlanta, a lesbian nightclub in a wealthy neighborhood just north of downtown Atlanta, said Atlanta Police Lt. H.M. Wright.

Wright said the two people were inside the club when the blast went off. Television reports said the injured man and woman were taken to hospitals.

The man was being treated for minor, “shrapnel-like” injuries to his back, said nursing supervisor Stacey Wheeler. Hospital officials would not comment on the woman’s condition.
