Daily Racing Form informs us that Pop Star Mackee, one of seven fillies or mares in today’s feature, seldom, if ever, puts her nose through a bridle against such relatively moderate company. She’s had a four-furlong tuneup clearly too short after good workouts and, if she’s a shadow of her former self, should beat a field of horses stepping up in class.

In the first and second races, Fresh Pack and Freds Bad Boy make their local debuts off past performances that suggest both may dominate their fields. Note that Challenging Knight, recently a sprinter, has six mile wins in the unimpressive third race. If you toss out his last effort, River Broker leaps off the page in the ninth.
