Columbus, Richmond Move On To Finals

Nikki McCray scored 25 points as visiting Columbus defeated San Jose 81-69 Tuesday night to advance to the finals of the inaugural American Basketball League championship.

The Quest will play Richmond in a best-of-5 series, which will begin Sunday in Columbus.

Columbus advanced to the finals by sweeping San Jose in the best-of-3 semifinals.

The teams were tied at 13 after the first quarter, but the Quest (33-9) went on an 11-0 run during the second period and led 38-22 at halftime.

Richmond 82, Colorado 66

Adrienne Goodson and Marta Sobral each scored 18 points Tuesday as the Richmond Rage built a 20-point halftime lead en route to a victory over the Colorado Xplosion at Denver for a 2-0 sweep in the ABL semifinal series.

Richmond had come from behind to beat the Xplosion 80-77 in the series opener Sunday. Tuesday the Rage jumped out to a 15-2 lead and the Xplosion never challenged.

The Colorado team set team lows for its 7-point first quarter, 21-point first half and 66-point total.
