Clintons’ Legal Bills Top $2 Million

New York Times

President Clinton and his wife have fallen so deeply into debt from their growing legal bills, now more than $2 million, that the legal defense fund they established two years ago Thursday began charging reporters for lists of donors.

There is very little money coming into the Clintons’ legal defense fund. In the last six months, the fund took in $57,523, a significant amount of which was depleted by fund’s own legal expenses for its own internal investigation into inappropriate donations that were solicited by a former Arkansas restaurateur.

The bad publicity over the donations has, itself, caused a sharp decline in legitimate donations.
