‘Empire’ Bridges ‘Star Wars’ To ‘Return’

As the middle chapter of the “Star Wars” trilogy, “The Empire Strikes Back” is an improvement in characterization and a disappointment in plot. Since we have only two weeks to wait for the final installment, “The Return of the Jedi,” the plot problems seem minor.
