They’re Just Like Us If We Were Millionaires

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Ever wonder what your favorite entertainers earn? Well, favorite might be too strong a word to use for the likes of Howard Stern and the members of Kiss. But you know what we mean.

According to Paul Colford, who just updated his unauthorized biography of radio shock-jock Stern, the long-haired broadcaster earned $17 million in 1996. “He is so extravagantly rich that it clashes with the populist image he projects on the radio,” Colford wrote.

Kiss members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are mum about money, too. That’s because, reports the New York Times, each could make $30 million this year.

Nevertheless, Simmons told the Times, the image he wants to project to fans is, “I am down there with you people. I am just like you.”

Loose talk

Toni Braxton on wearing a revealing dress: “My philosophy is, ‘Girl, if you’ve got it, even a teeny bit of it, wear it while it’s still sticking up.”’

What a bright sight for a man in love

Greta Scacchi turns 36 today.

Next year, they’ll let some German films contend

Now, for some movie news: Juliette Binoche (“The English Patient”) and Leonardo DiCaprio (“William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet”) won bestactor awards Monday at the 47th Berlin Film Festival. The Golden Bear Prize for best movie went to “The People vs. Larry Flynt.”

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a … Valley Boy?

He’s a legitimate Oscar winner. And he’s been known to bulk up for certain movie roles. Still, Nicolas Cage always has been unpredictable in both the way he acts and the parts he plays. He’s talking about playing the title role in “Superman Reborn,” which is due in summer 1998.

Great, we get to see Drew Barrymore die two more times

All you Neve Campbell fans out there should be happy. There’s apparently going to be a sequel to “Scream.” In fact, look for a couple of them. Screenwriter Kevin Williamson has inked a seven-figure deal with Miramax to pen both of them.

Seems to us that the flick should open on Easter

We refuse to give things away, but there were audience problems when the Val Kilmer-Elisabeth Shue feature “The Saint” had its first test screenings. Seems no one liked it that a major character was killed off. So a new ending was written, then it was reshot. Due date: April 4.

Maybe Medavoy should hit them with a telephone book

The Cadillac television ad seems innocuous. A cop pulls over a Mercedes driver for “driving a luxury car without enough horsepower.” So why are NBC and CBS refusing to run it? Because the cop is played by Dennis Franz, star of the ABC cop drama “NYPD Blue.”
