Waitress Injured When Gunman Fires 30 Shots Into Restaurant

Compiled From Wire Services

A gunman fired at least 30 shots into a restaurant from a popular tourist lookout Wednesday as workers cleaned up from a New Year’s Eve celebration.

Only one person was injured; a waitress suffered a cut shoulder from flying glass.

The angles of holes in windows and metal doors in the Hooters restaurant suggested the shots came from Mt. Washington, which overlooks the city’s trendy Station Square night spot and retail complex along the Monongahela River.

Eight workers were cleaning up about 90 minutes after the restaurant had closed when the firing began.
