Group Takes Credit For Assassination Attempt
A militant Islamic group has claimed responsibility for an assassination attempt on Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi late last year, a newspaper reported Thursday.
A member of the Fighting Islamic Group hurled a grenade at Gadhafi on Nov. 23 during his visit to the desert town of Brak, 400 miles south of Tripoli, Libya, the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper quoted the group as saying.
Gadhafi escaped injury, but reportedly was treated at a local hospital for shock.
