Man Shot In Eye Over $10 Debt

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane police are investigating an assault which resulted in a man being shot in his left eye, apparently in a dispute over a $10 debt.

Police were called to the victim’s residence in the 1700 block of North Elm about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.

They found the 24-year-old victim with a bullet wound at the edge of his left eye. The bullet appeared to come out of the man’s head near his left temple, according to police.

Despite the injury, the man was walking and talking with officers when he was taken by ambulance to a hospital. He was treated for the wound and released.

Spokane police arrested Jerry L. Wentz, 34, of 1724 West Augusta. The victim said he and Wentz argued over $10 he owed Wentz.

Wentz denied the shooting. He was booked into jail on first degree assault.

Police refused to make public the victim’s identity and they also refused to say what hospital treated him.
