Von Gruenigen Wins Again

Swiss veteran Michael Von Gruenigen routed his opponents in a World Cup giant slalom for his second consecutive victory.

In a sport where hundredths of a second make a difference, Von Gruenigen completed the two-run race an astounding 1.64 seconds ahead of Austria’s Siegfried Voglreiter.

Italian star Alberto Tomba, competing in his first giant slalom this season, fell during the second run and failed to complete the race.
