Winter Hawks Put Hurt On Chiefs, 9-1 Loss Gives Spokane 0-9-2 Record In Last 11 Road Games
The Spokane Chiefs road winless streak reached 11 games after the Portland Winter Hawks pounded out a 9-1 victory Sunday at the Rose Garden in Portland.
Portland has won 19 of of its last 23 games and sports a 5-1-1 record against the Chiefs this season.
Spokane’s goal came with the Winter Hawks already up 3-0 in the second period. Chris Lane scored his second goal of the season and second in as many nights.
Marty Standish, Matt Davidson and Ondrej Vesely each scored a pair of goals for the Winter Hawks.
Spokane continues its four-game road trip with games against Prince George on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to Kelowna for a Friday contest.
Chiefs coach Mike Babcock, who coached Team Canada to the World Junior Hockey Championship title, isn’t expected to rejoin the team on its current road trip.
