Jv Can’t Save Post Falls Against Lewiston

Prep wrestling

Ryan Nelson’s varsity debut for Post Falls was a success, but the Trojans couldn’t parlay it into a wrestling victory over visiting Lewiston on Monday night.

Nelson, who stepped up from the junior varsity, worked his way to a 13-6 win over Lewiston’s Britt Beck at 103 pounds, but by the time the match was over, the Bengals came away with a 38-30 win.

It was Post Falls’ first loss in three matches.

Chris Booth (130), Luke Smith (145), Bryan Roberts (171) and Matt Smith (275) produced pins for the Trojans, the latter in just 48 seconds.

Lewiston managed five pins and a technical fall by Doug Jackson at 140 for the winning edge.

In the closest match of the night, Al Mack of Post Falls pulled out an 8-7 triumph over Lewiston’s Scott Hoogland at 112 pounds.

Besides Jackson, Lewiston’s winners were Peter Larson (119), Tim Greene (125), Derek Johnson (135), Travis Swam (152), Charlie Evers (160) and Mike Frei (189).

Greene won by decision, the others by pins. , DataTimes
