Chargers May Interview Ex-Coach Of Sorry Saints

From Wire Reports

San Diego Chargers general manager Bobby Beathard said he plans to interview former New Orleans Saints coach Jim Mora next week for the vacancy created when Bobby Ross resigned as coach of the San Diego Chargers.

Although a date hasn’t been set, Beathard said he would interview Mora at Mobile, Ala., site of the Senior Bowl on Jan. 18.

Beathard had hoped to hire a replacement for Ross by this week, but that appears unlikely.

George visits KC

Quarterback Jeff George’s visit to Kansas City tantalized Chiefs fans, who are aching for a quarterback that can lift the team to the Super Bowl.

But at least two other teams are thought to be interested in George, and a Chiefs spokesman said Wednesday that nothing has been decided.

Police seek phone records

Dallas police will ask a Collin County grand jury to issue a subpoena for telephone records that may support a 23-year-old woman’s rape allegation against two Dallas Cowboys, a police source said.

The woman told police that receiver Michael Irvin and offensive tackle Erik Williams made separate calls to her the day after the reported Dec. 29 sexual assault. Irvin told her that “nothing happened” and Williams promised to “be more gentle” next time, she told police.
