Witness Holds Suspect Until Police Arrive

From Staff Reports

A witness held an armed robbery suspect at gunpoint early Thursday in Browne’s Addition until police arrived.

Police responded to a robbery report in the 300 block of South Coeur d’Alene about 1:15 a.m. Officers found the suspect on the ground and a neighbor standing over him with a handgun.

The victim said two men robbed him of his money after he gave them a ride to the neighborhood. When the two began to beat the victim to take his wallet, he yelled. The neighbor came outside with a gun, police said.

Virdree Lamar Thompson, 23, who gave his address as 2126 W. Pacific, was booked into Spokane County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

The second suspect escaped.
