Celebrated Tenor Dies In Fall From Window
Alvinio Misciano, a celebrated lyric tenor who influenced Luciano Pavarotti, died Friday in a fall from his fourth-story window. He was 81.
Misciano had gone to the window to look out at the fog, lost his balance and fell to his death, his son-in-law Cino Tortorella said.
“He was a great tenor, a ‘maestro’ of song for everybody,” Pavarotti said.
Misciano appeared at Milan’s La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Paris Opera during the 1950s and 1960s.
