Guatemala To Seek Help Despite Veto
Guatemala is pursuing other options for obtaining peace monitors after China blocked the U.N. Security Council from sending observers, officials said Saturday.
Foreign Minister Eduardo Stein Barillas said getting observers through the Washington-based Organization of American States can be done “in a matter of hours,” and that OAS Secretary-General Cesar Gaviria began consultations on that possibility in Managua, Nicaragua, hours after Friday’s U.N. vote.
