Guess Martin Saw It As A Role In The Hay

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

Tisha Campbell, Martin Lawrence’s TV wife on his “Martin” sitcom, has left the show and is suing the comedian for sexual harassment.

The lawsuit claims that Lawrence “humiliated and abused Campbell in front of the entire cast and crew on so many occasions that it reached the point where she needed to be hospitalized due to the stress.”

Scripts continued to include bedroom scenes with Lawrence, despite Campbell’s pleadings to the contrary, the suit adds.

Said a spokesman for HBO, which produces the series: “We responded to Tisha Campbell’s concerns as soon as we heard about them.”

Added a statement from Lawrence: “Martin has long been Tisha’s champion and protector, and is thus deeply hurt by these allegations.”

Loose talk

Cartoonist Scott Adams, on why Dilbert’s tie curls up: “The answer is either a) It’s a metaphor for his inability to control his environment, or b)He’s just glad to see you.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss turns 36 today.

So, they’ll be closeted for a little longer

The latest on Ellen DeGeneres’ coming-out party: While “Ellen” goes on hiatus for six weeks starting March 4 to make room for a new comedy starring Arsenio Hall, ABC will review scripts introducing her character’s homosexuality. “We are all taking this pretty seriously,” said Jamie Tarses, ABC Entertainment president. “It just has to be done very well. It can’t be just another episode of television.”

First up: Doing Las Vegas with Janet Reno

Former O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark has officially left the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and signed on as host of “LadyLaw,” a planned 30-minute television program about female law enforcement officers, lawyers and judges. Said a statement: “We’ll go beyond the streets, penitentiaries and courtrooms to capture the unique and very personal sides of these remarkable women.”

Sounds like he’s about ready to flip his lid

Rodney Allen Rippy, whom you may recall as a chubby-cheeked 3-year-old hawking Jack in the Box burgers, is now a 28-year-old, 6-foot, goateed television news apprentice who’s still hoping for an acting career. Says Rippy, whose last TV job (“Parker Lewis Can’t Lose”) was two years ago: “When you have creativity bottled up inside you, you feel like you’re going to explode if you don’t get it out.”

Imagine what he must think of ‘Milennium’

Dilbert, on why he likes “60 Minutes” (in TV Guide): “I appreciate this show due to its truth in labeling. I’ve timed it and it’s almost always 60 minutes long. A lot of shows have inflated claims in their titles, like ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos.’ But ‘60 Minutes’ gives you exactly what they promise, unlike that show ‘48 Hours.”’
