Spokane Grocery Store Robbed

Police are investigating a robbery Monday night at a small Spokane grocery store.

Logan Rishar, a clerk at Munchkin Market, 1928 E. Mission, was chatting with a friend when a man walked into the store about 9:45 p.m.

The man, who appeared to have a weapon hidden in a newspaper wrapped around his hand, put on a blue wool ski cap and ordered Rishar’s friend to hit the ground, the clerk said.

He then ordered Rishar to empty the cash register.

“I was shook up,” Rishar said, “but my main concern was to get him out of here so that nobody got shot.”

The robber, whom Rishar described as a white man in his late 40s or early 50s, left the store with $100 in a paper bag.

Police found the money in the parking lot, Rishar said.

This isn’t the first armed robbery for the market.

Two years ago, at its former location in Veradale, a masked man with a gun robbed the store.

Police had no further details Monday evening.
