Clinton Relative Called An ‘Influence Peddler’

Wed., Jan. 15, 1997

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s brother explicitly offered to use his family connections to arrange a White House invitation for Paraguayan President Juan Carlos Wasmosy before he was offered a six-figure cash payoff at a 1995 Miami breakfast, a lawyer who was present charged Tuesday.

The lawyer, John H. Tonelli, labeled Anthony D. Rodham an “influence peddler” who “held himself out as someone with access to the White House, that he was able to make things happen and get access to President Clinton. … He described himself as a semi-lobbyist, and said he could broker meetings and contacts because of his sister.”

Rodham vehemently denied Tuesday that he has ever used or advertised his White House connections to solicit or help a client.
