He’s mean. He’s catty. He’s consistent.
With the precision of a venom-spewing Swiss watch, Mr. Blackwell has released his list of Hollywood’s 10 worst dressed women every January for 37 years. And this year was no exception.
Like his 1995 list, a man topped the roster of the most weirdly clad. Dennis Rodman of basketball and MTV fame followed last year’s king, shock jock Howard Stern, as the worst of the worst.
“(Rodman) may be the Bad Boy of Basketball, but in fishnet and feathers, he’s a unisex wreck!” Blackwell hissed.
The acerbic designer-turned-fashion critic had equally unkind words for “101 Dalmatians” villainess Glenn Close, “Friends” TV star Lisa Kudrow and Helen Hunt of both “Mad About You” and the big-screen hit “Twister.”
But unlike past rants, Blackwell laced this year’s announcement with some positive comments about the state of celebrity couture.
“I’m happy to report that 1996 was, in terms of fashion, a stylistic step in the right direction.
Blackwell even congratulated a few stars for pulling themselves out of the fashion Dumpster, including former worst-dressed Madonna and Courtney Love.
“Madonna positively mesmerized as Evita,” Blackwell said. “There is much to be grateful for.”
The other women on the list are: Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, Sarah Ferguson, Elizabeth Shue, Drew Barrymore, Claire Danes, and Lori Petty.
