Faith Bible Church’s New Building Complete

Nina Culver Correspondent

Members of Faith Bible Church are celebrating the completion of their new 32,000-square foot building.

The building at 600 W. Cora will be used for worship services, children’s activities, and will house several offices.

Construction of the $2.1 million building began in mid-July. The completed structure seats 880 people. The 1,000 church members raised the money for their first permanent home through their own donations and by purchasing bonds.

Church members have been using a rented building that belongs to North Central High school for office space and church activities. They have been searching for a church to call their own for five years. The 19 acres of land the new building sits on were purchased in 1994 for $550,000.

Worship services will be held in the new building for the first time on Feb. 2. Services will be at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Potluck planned Sunday

The North Hill Christian Church, 4620 N. Post, is hosting an ethnic potluck at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. People are asked to bring a dish from any ethnic background to share.

Vernon Buckley, an assistant chaplain with the Spokane Police Department, will speak at the potluck. Buckley, a trained psychologist, has worked extensively with the Native American community in Wellpinit and will talk about the myths and preconceived ideas that some have about Native Americans.

Men’s group meets Saturday

The men’s ministry group at Whitworth Presbyterian Church, 312 W. Hawthorne Road, will have its next monthly breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Saturday.

The speaker for the breakfast will be Rodney McAuley, a pastor at Calvary Baptist Church. McAuley will speak about growing up in a black church and coming to Christ in a primarily white, rural area in Washington.

All men are welcome to attend the breakfast. The cost is $3. Anyone interested in attending is asked to call the church office at 466-0305 in advance so there will be enough food on hand.

Play begins at 6:30 p.m. and all are welcome.
