No. 7 Whitworth Falls To Plu

Gabe Jones tied game with 30 seconds left but the Pirates never got a good shot off in the final seconds, as Pacific Luthern University upset the NAIA No. 7-ranked Whitworth 76-75 in a men’s game Friday night at Tacoma.

After Jones tied the score a 75-75, PLU’s Brad Brevet was fouled by Sean Weston, his fifth, with 18 seconds left. Brevet make 1 of 2 and Whitworth worked for a good shot but came up empty when Tyler Jordan was stripped of ball.

Also at Tacoma, Whitworth held a 29-25 halftime lead, but couldn’t hold on and was outscored by 18 points in the second half.

Whitworth’s Rebecca Moore contined her hot-shooting streak, finishing with 20 points (8 of 22). Backcourt partner Jen Tissue, who missed last weekend’s games because of a bad back, played 12 minutes and scored two points.
