29 Killed, 12 Injured In Bus Crash In India

A bus carrying a wedding party skidded off a road and fell into a rain-swollen river in northern India on Sunday, killing 29 people, Press Trust of India reported.

The bus was carrying at least 50 people, some perched on its roof. It went out of control on a sharp bend in Punjab state, about 215 miles northwest of New Delhi.

PTI quoted a Punjab police official as saying 27 people died at the scene and two died of injuries later in a hospital. At least 12 others were admitted to the hospital with injuries.
