Fast Food, Gas Center Being Built North Of I-90 At Liberty Lake Exit

Construction of a $1.3 million commercial center has begun just north of Interstate 90’s Liberty Lake exit.

Gib Brumback, owner of Brumback Construction, said the project has been scaled back.

Originally, the center was to house a hotel and a major restaurant. But those plans “flopped,” said Brumback.

Now, a convenience store with a gas station, a nationally known fast-food restaurant and a small shopping strip will be built on the 48,000-square foot lot.

The convenience store/gas station, complete with four service islands, will be operated by Divine Corporation of Spokane, which sells Shell gasoline. The store and station will be 3,400 square feet.

Adjacent to the convenience store will be a 4,600-square foot shopping strip. Though he has no tenants yet, some businesses, such as a dry cleaner and a laundromat, have showed interest.

Brumback said he’s currently negotiating with a national fast-food chain to build a 1,500-square foot restaurant at the center.

He said he chose the location because Liberty Lake is one of the fastest growing communities in the county. He said he’s also excited because it’s the first major commercial development on the north side of the freeway.

Construction of the center, called Liberty Lake 90, began last month and is scheduled to be complete May 1. Brumback said the opening date is contingent on the completion of Mission Avenue’s realignment.

When Mission is realigned, it will intersect Harvard Road. That project, which will move the road 1,000 feet north of its current position, is also underway.
