Procedure Inches From Murder Ban It Now Lies Surround The Practice.

FRIDAY, JAN. 24, 1997

Amy Grossberg and Brian Peterson wouldn’t be in trouble today if an abortionist had killed their baby just before its birth in November.

An abortionist - legally - could have delivered their baby feet first so that all but the head was outside Amy’s womb. Then, the abortionist could have stabbed surgical scissors into the base of the baby’s head, suctioned out the brain and delivered a dead infant.

Instead, the 18-year-olds improvised. Grossberg gave birth in a Delaware motel room. Afterward, the pair fractured their baby’s skull, stuffed it in a garbage bag and dumped it in a trash bin, in freezing weather.

In doing so, the teens showed us that only inches separate murder and legal abortion.

Morally, the abortionists who kill some 13,000 late-term fetuses yearly are guiltier. They know what they’re doing. They know most unborn babies aborted in this brutal manner are healthy - contrary to claims by President Clinton and other abortion-rights radicals.

In 1993, Dr. Martin Haskell, the best-known practitioner of partial-birth abortions, told the American Medical News that 80 percent of the abortions are “purely elective.” The mother’s health isn’t in danger. The unborn baby isn’t grossly deformed. It simply isn’t wanted.

Although only 7 percent of the public supports abortion on demand at any time, for any reason, Clinton vetoed a ban on partialbirth abortions last year. Afterward, the Great Poll-Watcher claimed he would have signed the bill if it had included an exception to protect a woman’s health. He knew, of course, the Supreme Court had defined “health” to mean “all factors - physical, emotional, psychological, familial and the woman’s age - relevant to the well-being of the patient.”

In other words, anything would still go.

Clinton and his abortion handlers cite extreme cases and lie to defend themselves.

They have claimed the unborn dies when the mother is anesthetized - only to be refuted before Congress by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Clinton, with tear ducts overflowing, has contended incredibly that partial-birth abortions sometime protect a woman’s reproductive ability. But he hasn’t explained how a baby who’s three-fourths born affects fertility.

Why the lies? How else can you defend the indefensible?
