Davy Jones, injured Thursday when his car crashed during practice for the Indy 200 at Walt Disney World Speedway in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., was listed in serious condition with a neck injury and weakness in his left arm. But he was reported to be awake and talking, a large improvement over his status immediately after the wreck, when he was unconscious and in critical condition.

Tony Stewart, 25, who has been the fastest driver almost since the first of the new cars was delivered, turned a fast lap of 166.013 mph to take the pole position for today’s Indy 200.

Switzerland’s Fabien Rohrer and Anita Schwaller won gold medals at the halfpipe event at the World Snowboard Championships at San Candido, Italy.
