Chris Anderson Shadle Park Year: Senior Sport: Basketball Position: Forward

Chris Anderson scores only 14 points a game for the Shadle Park Highlanders.

He could probably score a lot more, but then he probably wouldn’t be almost unstoppable.

The Shadle Park senior does lead his team in scoring but the 6-foot-4 forward is also second in assists, second in rebounds and a good defensive player on a good defensive team.

“He isn’t a one-dimensional player,” Highlanders coach Darcy Weisner said. “He can defend, rebound and pass besides score. He’s very unselfish.”

That’s a big reason why the rest of his teammates have taken on larger roles and the Highlanders have won nine straight to move into a tie for first place in the Greater Spokane League.

“I do whatever they need me to do,” Anderson said. “The part I enjoy most is passing. I just wish I could get my shot down.”

Last week he struggled for three quarters against North Central before taking over the game in the fourth quarter.

“Like all good scorers, he never remembers a miss,” Weisner said. “In the North Central game we needed somebody to step up. Whenever we need a big basket, he’ll take the shot.

“Since I’ve been in the league, every good team has had a kid that stepped up when they needed it. Chris is becoming that player for us.”
