Eastern State Hospital Leader Named

An Ohio mental health administrator on Thursday was named the new superintendent of Eastern State Hospital.

Canan “Jan” Gregg will replace Steven Covington, who resigned in August amid ethics allegations.

Gregg has been the chief executive officer of the Pauline Warfield Lewis Center in Cincinnati since June 1995. She served as the assistant chief executive officer at the center from 1993 until 1995.

Covington resigned from Eastern after coming under fire for misuse of state money and poor patient care in an investigation by the state auditor’s office.

The hospital also had a scathing federal inspection in June, but bounced back in October, correcting all deficiencies before a surprise federal inspection. , DataTimes
